It was a family affair at the Division 1 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading with a brother and sister sharing the winner’s circle and a pair of brothers vying for the trophy in the other age group. Tyler (age 13-17) and Aleiya (6-9) Depascale outlasted the fields in their categories to claim Wallys. In the 10-12 age group, James Stack Jr. bested brother Eli for the trophy.
Kole Paone, far lane, got off the starting line first in the 6-9 category final, but he carried too much momentum on the top end and broke out with an 11.947 (12.02 dial). That opened the door for Aleiya Depascale, who won with a 12.248 (12.20).
James Stack Jr., near lane, earned family bragging rights when he stopped brother Eli in the 10-12 title round. James got off the starting line first and posted an 8.910 (8.90) to beat the 8.889 (8.90) of Eli.
The Depascale double was completed when Tyler Depascale, near lane, defeated Charlie Blittersdorf in the 13-17 age-group final. Blittersdorf left the starting line early, turning on the win light in the lane of Depascale, who clocked a 7.885 (7.90).
