Piper Filson outlasted the field in the NHRA Summit Racing JDRL Shootout during the NHRA Midwest Nationals at World Wide Technology Raceway to claim the event trophy. In the final (below), Filson, near lane, cut a .006 light, then eased her car to a 7.934 (7.90 dial) to defeat Zevlynn Riley, who broke out with an 8.970 (9.01).
