Greyson StJean took top honors during the Division 1 NHRA Summit Racing JDRL Shootout, completed during the Pep Boys NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway. The Shootout was originally scheduled for the NHRA New England Nationals, but wet weather forced officials to postpone it to the Reading event. Though Mother Nature again tried to interfere with the Shootout, racers were able to complete the Shootout.
When the dust settled, StJean was the last racer standing. He got the automatic nod in the final when Mason Maddox, far lane, fouled. StJean celebrated with a 9.031 (8.98 dial) victory pass.
The Summit Shootouts will continue during NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series events in Madison, Ill.; Dallas; and Pomona. For more information on the program, including how to qualify for the remaining shootouts, click here.
