Mother Nature was the big winner of the New England Dragway NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, postponing most racing to a later date. But two Jr. Dragster categories were completed before rain hit, and Evan Stack (age 6-9) and Emily Stalba (10-12) earned Wallys for their efforts. The 13-17 class final was delayed by rain, but it was later completed, and Kyle Genualdo won the Wally.
In the 6-9 final, Stack, far lane, got off the starting line first and ran right on his 14.38 dial to turn on the win light against Alicia Gouveia, who broke out with a 12.398 (12.42).
Stalba, near lane, denied the Stack family a double win when she bested James Stack Jr. in the 10-12 title round. Stalba was better at the Tree, .011 to .046, then eased her car to an 8.990 (8.92) to defeat Stack’s breakout 8.981 (8.99).
Kyle Genualdo earned the 13-17 age-group Wally when he defeated sister Kaylee in the delayed title round. In the final, Kyle got off the starting line first by more than a tenth and turned that into an 8.496 (8.48) to 7.966 (7.91) win against Kaylee.
