Wied, Bee, Osborne, Brown, Fruerbach, Knieriem Victorious During Division 3 Championships Weekend
Oct. 15, 2020

Carson Wied (age 6-9), Seth Bee (10-12), and Mason Osborne (13-17) claimed the 2020 Division 3 Jr. Dragster championships during the Jr. Finals weekend at Lucas Oil Raceway Park at Indianapolis. Landen Brown (6-9), Logan Fruerbach (10-12), and Cole Knieriem (13-17) were also big winners, outlasting fellow track champions to claim the Race of Champions titles in their age groups.

Wied, far lane, got the automatic win in the 6-9 age-group final when Preston Kroening red-lighted. Wied powered to a 13.931 (13.95 dial) en route to victory.

The Wied family just missed a double victory when the 6-9 champ’s older brother, Tyler, near lane, fouled out in the 10-12 final round. That turned on the win light in the lane of Bee, who ran a 9.097 (9.03) on his winning pass.

Osborne, far lane, got off the starting line first in the 13-17 title round and never looked back, finishing ahead of Blaine Bazell in an 8.037 (7.91) to 8.056 (7.97) contest.

Ohio Valley Raceway’s Brown, near lane, took top honors in the 6-9 Race of Champions when Lucas Oil Raceway’s Kolette Dicero just missed the Tree, going red by .008-second. Brown ran a .001-under 11.899 on his way to the win.

A foul start also determined the outcome in the 10-12 Race of Champions title round. This time, National Trail Raceway runner Wyatt Waddle, near lane, went red, giving the win to Kil-Kare Dragway driver Fruerbach, who finished with a 9.127 (9.16).

Knieriem, far lane, added a second win for Ohio Valley Raceway when he bested Byron Dragway’s Brady Wolf in the 13-17 Race of Champions final. Knieriem left the starting line first by nearly a tenth, and that pushed Wolf into a 7.887 (7.90) breakout. Knieriem eased his car to an 8.005 (7.99) to turn on the win light.
